Stefanie Schwarz, DNP, CNM, RNC-MNN, CLC, C-EFM earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. Furthering her education, she earned her Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice from Frontier Nursing University. Stefanie is a board-certified nurse-midwife by the American Midwife Board, a registered nurse certified in maternal newborn nursing, a certified lactation counselor, and is certified in electronic fetal monitoring.

In any healthcare setting, it’s important that patients are able to understand their options and express their opinion, which is why Stefanie makes a point to let each of her patients know that they have a right to know what is happening with their care and that they have an active voice. Stefanie values the opinions of her patients.

Stefanie sees patients from adolescence to child-bearing age, offering care during their pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. As a lactation counselor, she takes a particular medical interest in helping women succeed in breastfeeding. Breastfeeding can be a daunting experience and challenging for some women. She helps teach new mothers how to establish a good milk supply, offers guidance on optimal breastfeeding positions, and tips on latching techniques.  Stefanie belongs to multiple professional organizations including the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) and the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWOHNN).

When she isn’t seeing patients, Stefanie enjoys traveling the globe. She is originally from Germany, where she was born and raised before moving to the United States. Stephanie retired from the U.S. Army in 2020 and now welcomes patients at TPMG Tidewater Midwifery Care.
