We also provide care for the management of numerous chronic illnesses, as well as acute health problems. Independence Family Medicine has been caring for patients in Virginia Beach and the surrounding area for many years. The practice was established by Dr. Michael Moro, who began treating patients in 1974. In 2017, Independence Family Medicine joined TPMG and moved to its current location on Witchduck Road. Dr. Matthew Balderston, our managing physician, joined TPMG in 2020 after proudly completing his service commitment in the United States Air Force. We also have highly qualified and experienced ACP healthcare providers, Mary Huntley-Wagner, FNP-BC, and Katie Sexton, PA-C. We offer same-day appointments when available. Please call early in the day to maximize the chance of securing a same-day appointment. For patient convenience, TPMG Independence Family Medicine draws most laboratory blood tests in the office. We offer EKGs and lung function tests. We also have easy access to X-ray services and numerous medical specialists due to our affiliation with TPMG. To provide additional support between appointments, TPMG participates in Medicare’s Advanced Primary Care Management (APCM) program.
