Monday: 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Sarah Chen, DO, earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Missouri, in 2016. After graduating from medical school, Dr. Chen completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Drawn to the medical field by a desire to help others, she knew early on that she wanted to become a doctor. She enjoys science, learning the intricacies of the human body, and the personal relationships she builds with her patients. For her, medicine offers a unique opportunity to help people and her community. Dr. Chen chose to practice in primary care, as it allows her to make lasting impacts over the lifespan of a patient’s health, while also building long-term relationships with her patients. As a primary care physician, Dr. Chen strives to remain up-to-date in her practice, offering patients the best care possible. She also believes that the best patient-provider relationships require open communication, where her patients feel heard. She encourages her patients to take an active role in their health by equipping them with the knowledge and tools to better understand their condition. Dr. Chen finds that patients who can understand their health problems on a deeper level are better able to manage those problems. She treats the whole patient, acknowledging that the mind plays a role when treating any illness. Dr. Chen treats patients of all ages for a variety of health problems and advocates preventative care to prevent disease before it can negatively impact her patients’ health. She has a special medical interest in infant care and childhood development, as well as preventative medicine, diabetes, and high blood pressure. She is a member of the American College of Physicians (ACP) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). When she isn’t at work, she enjoys spending time with her family at local parks, zoos, and aquariums. She loves going for bike rides and walks, relishing the gorgeous weather of the Hampton Roads area. She also likes trying new foods and cooking at home. Dr. Chen is an Internist and Pediatrician in Virginia Beach who warmly welcomes patients at TPMG Holland Road Family Medicine.
