Education/Certifications: Undergraduate: B.A. in  Exercise Science, Christopher Newport University, NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), NATA Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC),  Virginia Board of Medicine Licensed Athletic Trainer

Tina Keasey, ATC/L, CSCS’ love of sports and fitness began at an early age while chasing her older brother, Lee, to the gym during their summer vacations. She was determined to do everything he did, including playing basketball at Christopher Newport University (CNU).  It was during her time playing basketball for CNU that she discovered her passion for rehab and corrective fitness after suffering what many thought would be a career ending injury.  Despite the long road to recovery, Tina finished her college career as a varsity letter winner in basketball and softball.

In her final year at CNU, Tina returned to the training room to complete her internship where she worked with the team physicians and staff learning valuable skills to unlock an athlete’s physical potential.  She would later apply, and continues to use, those same skill sets to motivate and inspire clients to improve their own health and wellness. Through her own injury and by working with other athletes, Tina realized setbacks are not roadblocks to stop you or prevent you from moving forward, but are there to make you stronger and teach you how to achieve more.

Tina understands fitness and exercise cannot only prevent health problems, but also improve your quality of life no matter the obstacles.  She looks forward to helping clients find the right fitness routine to fit their lifestyle, as she believes it is an integral part of living your fullest life.

Tina is a licensed and certified athletic trainer with the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and the Virginia Board of Medicine. She is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Throughout her career, she has worked with the 2001 Junior Olympics, 2003 Senior Olympics, several semi-professional soccer and basketball players, as well as NCAA track and field champions.

Tina is married to her college sweetheart, Mike, and they have three wonderful children.  She and her family enjoy playing sports together, traveling to the beach, and spending quality time together.

Mary Kate Cogan, CPT
Mary Kate Cogan, CPT

Education/Certifications: Undergraduate: Averett University, Certifications: Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA)

Mary Kate Cogan, CPT, a Richmond native, has always loved sports. At a young age, her parents encouraged her to be active, either exploring the backyard or joining a sports team. From there, Mary Kate discovered her passion for soccer.

In high school, Mary Kate enrolled in an athletic training course taught by her school trainer, where she realized her love for helping athletes with injury prevention and performance enhancement. Mary Kate’s interest in athletic training, along with her passion for soccer, prompted her to attend Averett University in Danville, Virginia, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Personal Training. Throughout college, she was a four-year member of the Averett women’s soccer team and worked part-time as a wellness coach at a local YMCA.

Mary Kate will always enjoy working with athletes, but she loves working with older, everyday individuals the most. Helping someone grow the confidence to perform routine tasks without the worry of falling or injuring themselves, with a simple smile in return, makes her job worthwhile. Mary Kate emphasizes that you may not be able to control all of the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.

Mary Kate is a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) through the Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA). In joining TPMG – Strive Fitness and Sports Performance, she has the opportunity to put the two things that she enjoys the most together. Outside of work, Mary Kate stays active with outdoor activities such as hiking in the mountains, visiting the beach, and boating with family and friends. She also enjoys spending time with her two lovable Labrador Retrievers.
