She has a special interest in adrenal and pituitary disorders, women’s health, and thyroid and diabetes conditions. Dr. Knudsen also performs thyroid ultrasounds and biopsies in the office. In February 2019, John D. Ireland, PA-C joined Dr. Knudsen at the Colonial Endocrinology office, located in the New Town area of Williamsburg. At TPMG Colonial Endocrinology we practice traditional, evidence-based endocrinology, which may require the prescription of synthetic hormones. We do not co-manage conditions with naturopaths, chiropractors, or other alternative medicine practitioners. We manage a variety of endocrine conditions, with some of the most common conditions including patients with thyroid issues, including thyroid nodules. Dr. Knudsen performs ultrasounds and biopsies of the thyroid/neck to assess these conditions in office. We manage PCOS and related menstrual issues (we do not do compounded HRT, “hormone therapy” including testosterone in premenopausal women) and patients with diabetes, both type 1 and type 2, as well as Parathyroid disorders related to the endocrine system and Males with hypogonadism.
