Karen L. Knudsen, MD, FACE, ECNU, is a graduate of Yale University with a Bachelor of Science degree. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut. Dr. Knudsen completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Connecticut Health System and completed an Endocrine Fellowship at the University of Virginia. She is a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology (FACE). Dr. Knudsen is board-certified in Endocrinology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Knudsen has obtained Endocrine Certification in Neck Ultrasound (ECNU) through the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, which requires significant experience and quality in performing ultrasound examinations of the thyroid, parathyroid, and surrounding neck structures. Dr. Knudsen has done clinical research on both osteoporosis and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). She is published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, which is the world’s leading peer-reviewed journal of endocrine clinical research and practice.
