1100 Volvo Parkway Monday: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM Matthew M. MacLean, MSN, FNP-BC, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with TPMG Greenbrier Family Medicine in Chesapeake. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA. Furthering his education, he earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Nursing from the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, MA. Matthew joined TPMG Greenbrier Family Medicine in 2025. As a teenager, Matthew ruptured his spleen while playing baseball, which required extended hospitalization at Boston Children’s Hospital. The remarkable support from the hospital staff and empathetic care he received during his recovery inspired him to pursue a career in healthcare, where he could provide others with the same exceptional quality of care he experienced. A proponent of patient education, Matthew empowers patients with the knowledge they need to become active participants in their health journey. By enhancing patients’ understanding of their medical conditions and available treatment options, he facilitates improved healthcare decision-making to ensure patient care aligns with their unique health goals. Matthew believes there is no one-size-fits-all approach to medicine. Instead, he makes it a priority to get to know his patients on a personal level to deliver optimal care. Matthew treats patients for various cardiovascular conditions, including heart failure (with both preserved and reduced ejection fraction), cardiomyopathies (dilated, hypertrophic, infiltrative), atrial fibrillation, coronary artery disease, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, metabolic disease, obesity, and diabetes, among others. While he primarily works with end-stage cardiac diseases, Matthew also promotes preventative medicine to decrease the chance of developing chronic conditions. When he isn’t in the office, Matthew enjoys golfing, reading, hiking, going to the beach, and spending time with friends and family. While not a native of the Hampton Roads area, he appreciates the warm climate and numerous opportunities for community engagement. Matthew warmly welcomes patients to make an appointment to see him at TPMG Greenbrier Family Medicine.
