Free Blood Test for Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)].Â
The Clinical Research Division at TPMG is offering a free blood test for lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)]. If you are being treated for high cholesterol or high LDL levels, you may be at an increased risk for elevated Lp(a), which significantly raises the risk of heart disease and stroke.
Eligibility Criteria for the Free Blood Test:Â
1. Individuals with a diagnosis of atherosclerosis (affecting the heart, carotids, or peripheral arteries) are eligible, provided they have not previously experienced a myocardial infarction (MI), coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), placement of a stent, or a stroke.
2. If there is no known atherosclerosis, applicants must meet at least four of the following risk factors:
- Age over 65
- Hypertension managed with medication
- Diabetes managed with medication
- Chronic kidney disease
- Current smoking (note: vaping does not qualify)
- Family history of heart disease in parents or siblings before age 55 for males, or before age 65 for females
- High-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) level greater than 2.0
If you meet the criteria and are interested, please contact us to schedule your free blood test at (757) 232-8836 or inquiries@tpmgclinicalresearch.com. We will take the first 100 people who fit the criteria.
