Advanced Care Providers (ACPs) are licensed advanced practice clinicians who work closely with physicians to increase patient access to clinical care, promoting efficiency in TPMG offices. Â ACPs come from a variety of professional backgrounds, providing care in many specialty and primary care settings.
What is an Advanced Care Provider?
Several professionals fall under the umbrella of an ACP, including nurse practitioners (NP), physician assistants (PA), certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNA), certified nurse-midwives (CNM), advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs), and Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS). ACPs are experienced healthcare professionals with advanced educational degrees. They have undergone extensive training to meet their scope of practice and provide comprehensive care for patients, addressing a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. What Differentiates ACPs?
TPMG’s ACPs offer a variety of credentials, indicating a difference in education and area of practice or specialty. PAs are trained under the medical model, which focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of illness and disease, whereas NPs train under the more holistic nursing model, which focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of the patient. Virginia also recently joined other states in allowing Nurse Practitioners to have autonomous clinical practice without requiring a physician’s oversight. All licensed ACPs provide similar, excellent medical care.
What Role Does an ACP Play in a Doctor’s Office?
At TPMG, we believe in team-based, patient-centered care. Our ACPs work closely alongside physicians to effectively diagnose and treat illness. Like physicians, they order and interpret lab tests, manage acute and chronic conditions, and prescribe medications.  ACPs work with physicians to meticulously manage a patient’s case to ensure the highest standard of care.
Why Should I see an Advanced Care Provider?
TPMG’s ACPs operate efficiently and effectively to encourage our patients to reach their healthcare goals. Due to the increasing demand for providers in all healthcare settings, ACPs can expedite patient care by often seeing patients sooner than physicians. Whether a patient is managed by an MD, DO, PA, NP, or CNM, TPMG patients can expect excellent and compassionate care. To make an appointment to see one of our skilled ACPs today, click here.
