A member of the Hampton Roads medical community for over 28 years, Dr. Leblang joins TPMG following a successful career in private practice and as a well-respected attending physician and program director at the Riverside Family Medicine Residency Program.

“TPMG has been fortunate to have talented and dedicated physicians serve our organization as medical directors for many years, and we are grateful to have Dr. Leblang join us and continue the legacy of experienced and trusted leadership.” said TPMG President, Scott Banning, MD.

Dr. Leblang was first introduced to the Hampton Roads area during his training through the Riverside Residency Program after earning his medical degree at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forrest University in Winston-Salem, NC. He then fulfilled a four year commitment to the National Health Service Corps in the town of Pinetops, N.C., followed by two years in Florida to start a private practice. He then returned to Newport News to teach in the residency program, eventually accepting the position as Associate Director of the Riverside Family Medicine Residency Program in 1990. From 2003 until his recent retirement from family medicine practice, he served as program director.

During his career, Dr. Leblang has educated and mentored countless physicians through the Riverside Family Medicine Residency Program, many of whom he will now work alongside at TPMG. As a long-time member of the local medical community with extensive experience in program management, he brings an invaluable perspective on healthcare in the Hampton Roads area.

“Having watched TPMG grow over the years and witnessing their commitment to quality patient care, I look forward to this opportunity to work within an organization that values providing excellent patient care for our community and the broader regions.” said Dr. Leblang.

In addition to providing medical leadership to the organization, Dr. Leblang will work on various projects related to population health, improvements to the patient experience, risk management, and recruiting as part of TPMG’s mission to be community leaders in healthcare.
