Fellowship trained radiologists offer TPMG Imaging services in private, discrete, mammography suites. Screening mammograms are fully covered by all insurance carriers one time per year for patients starting at age 40.
“We understand that it can be difficult to fit a preventative screening appointment into an already busy week,” said Janae Johnson, MD, board certified and fellowship trained breast imaging radiologist. “With the addition of our new Hampton imaging location, we are excited to expand our services to meet the needs of our community. We hope to help ease some of the burden of this essential service with the added convenience to our patients in Hampton.”
According to BreastCancer.org, about 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. “Currently, there is no way to prevent breast cancer, so we strive to find it early when it is most treatable. Screening mammograms are the gold standard, the best first tool in the fight against breast cancer.”
Johnson recommends all women over the age of 40 receive a yearly screening mammogram. For patients with additional risk factors or a family history of breast cancer, it is recommended to begin screenings at an earlier age.
