Dr. Beneke earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and later his medical degree from the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNY Buffalo). Expanding his skills, Dr. Beneke completed his Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at SUNY Buffalo where he served as Chief Resident. After completing his training in internal medicine, Dr. Beneke went on to complete his Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at SUNY Buffalo. With 30 years of experience in the field of Cardiology, Dr. Beneke treats patients with cardiovascular conditions including coronary artery disease, valve disease, heart failure, heart rhythm problems, adult congenital heart disease, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. His office provides a variety of cardiovascular services, including echocardiograms, stress testing (stress echocardiograms and nuclear stress tests), pacemaker monitoring, and heart rhythm monitoring. Dr. Beneke has a particular medical interest in the diagnosis and management of valvular heart disease. Early in his career, he performed intraoperative transesophageal echocardiograms to assist cardiac surgeons in performing mitral valve repair and aortic valve replacement using homograft valves (bioprosthetic valves that are not mounted on a metal or plastic scaffold). His experience gave him valuable insight into valve anatomy and the technical challenges faced by surgeons. As a provider, Dr. Beneke strives to help patients better understand their medical condition, treatment options, and any lifestyle changes that may positively affect their prognosis and quality of life. Educating his patients about their condition ensures they can make informed healthcare decisions, building patient confidence and increasing autonomy. After nearly 20 years of living and working in Virginia’s peninsula region, Dr. Beneke enjoys the friendly and accommodating community. Dr. Beneke joined TPMG in 2022.
