William E. Brown, III, MD, is a board certified Internal Medicine physician practicing in Hampton, VA. He provides complete care to adult patients with a focus on preventive medicine, education, and guidance to achieve optimal health and wellness.

Dr. Brown earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University.  Following a decade of service in the United States Air Force, Dr. Brown returned to his hometown to provide care to the Hampton Roads community.

In his clinical practice, Dr. Brown views the relationship between patient and physician as a partnership and feels strongly that a patient should be actively involved in decisions related to their care to achieve the best treatment plan and overall health and wellness.

Believing nutrition and wellness to be the basis of good health, Dr. Brown is devoted to counseling and coaching on topics related to nutrition, weight management, and fitness.  Favoring a conservative and preventative approach, Dr. Brown works with his patients to find the appropriate combination of treatments to suit their unique care needs and lifestyles.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Brown is the Medical Director of Hospice of Virginia, a position that allows him to help patients and their families transition as smoothly as possible through the final stage of life. 

Dr. Brown is also an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at his alma mater, the University of Virginia, where he trains and mentors medical and resident students.  In his teaching approach, Dr. Brown focuses on aspects of medical practice he values and employs daily at TPMG Peninsula Medical Associates. Areas of focus include bedside manner and developing an effective communication style built upon active listening skills and clear, accurate care explanations.

Dr. Brown is known throughout the area for his clear, concise communication, and willingness to approach difficult topics in a respectful manner to educate patients. He welcomes new patients looking to develop a partnership with their physician to achieve and maintain optimal health and wellness.
