Ryan C. Melchers, PA-C is a board-certified physician assistant with TPMG Coastal Endocrinology in Virginia Beach and Suffolk. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Old Dominion University, a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies, and a Doctor of Medical Science degree from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. He is also a member of the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA). Ryan joined TPMG Coastal Endocrinology in 2023. Drawn to the medical field from a young age, Ryan and his brother volunteered with the Cancer Care Foundation of Tidewater in Norfolk as children. Most of their work centered around creating care packages for ill patients and their family members. He found this experience to be incredibly rewarding and he continued to serve at the Cancer Care Foundation while attending college. His experience at the foundation inspired a career in health care. Ryan strives to help patients establish and achieve a goal for their health in a way that is consistent with their values and priorities. Through quality patient education and active listening, he helps patients understand their options and make informed decisions about their health. He sees adults for a variety of conditions including evaluation and management of thyroid disorders (hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, and thyroid nodules), type 1 and 2 diabetes (insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor management, to include the Eversense 365 Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) System), and osteoporosis. A native of Hampton Roads, Ryan was born and raised in Chesapeake and attended a local university. He enjoys the area’s proximity to the ocean and the bay while he can remain close to family. When Ryan isn’t in the office, he spends his time traveling, reading non-fiction, or watching a Washington Capitals game or NASCAR race.
