Rebecca R. Shoemaker, MD is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with a subspecialty in Pain Medicine. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration, Marketing Information Systems from James Madison University in Harrisonburg. Advancing her education, she received a Doctor of Medicine from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond. Dr. Shoemaker completed her internship in Internal Medicine at Westchester Medical Center, New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. She completed her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Rehabilitation Institute at the Detroit Medical Center and Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Following her residency, she returned to Virginia Commonwealth University to complete her fellowship in Pain Medicine. Dr. Shoemaker joined TPMG Interventional Pain Treatment Center in 2022.
From an early age, she knew she wanted to spend her life caring for others, which led her to become a physician. Dr. Shoemaker strives to do all that she can to support her patients and help them achieve their healthcare goals. Debilitating pain can distract someone from living a normal life. With compassion and understanding, she works to pinpoint the source of pain and treat it effectively by utilizing a plan of care tailored to the unique health needs of each patient.

At TPMG Interventional Pain Treatment Center, Dr. Shoemaker is dedicated to using the latest minimally invasive interventional techniques to help patients find long-term relief without the use of opioids. She treats adults for a variety of conditions relating to neck pain, lower back pain and sciatica. By reducing the intensity and possibly eliminating pain, her patients are able to regain function and reclaim a sense of normalcy.
Dr. Shoemaker is a member of multiple professional organizations including the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM) and the Association of Academic Physiatrists (AAP).
