Certified Nurse Midwife in Newport News and Hampton, VA

Megan Lord, MSN, CNM, earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at North Carolina Central University in Durham. Following her undergraduate degree, she received her Master of Science in Nursing, Nursing Midwifery from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. Megan completed hours of clinical rotations in primary care and hospital settings. She is a member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM). Megan joins TPMG Obstetrics and Gynecology in Hampton and Newport News.

Megan has been practicing medicine since 2007. When she was just a senior in high school, she began working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). At this early age, Megan began to develop a profound love for giving back to the community and helping others. She believes that there is no such thing as a bad day when you have the opportunity to brighten someone else’s day.

With over ten years in the medical field, Megan has gained extensive medical experience. Her medical experience includes managing high-risk pregnancies, educating mothers on newborn care, and assisting in vaginal and cesarean section deliveries. Before joining TPMG, she practiced as a Registered Nurse for seven years. Megan is now a Certified Nurse Midwife. She values building long-lasting relationships with her patients and making each patient feel comfortable and confident with the care they receive. She not only provides evidence-based care but individualized treatment to fit each patient’s specific needs.

At TPMG Obstetrics and Gynecology, Megan mainly cares for pregnant women in hospital and office settings. However, her care extends to females in their adolescence to women beyond menopause. Megan’s scope of practice includes primary care, gynecology, family planning, preconception, pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and newborn care during the first 28 days. In the future, she plans to become proficient in ultrasound.

As a former travel nurse, Megan most enjoys the Hampton Roads’ patient population. When Megan is not serving patients, she enjoys reading, cooking, exercising, and spending time with family. Growing up in North Carolina, Megan is grateful to live and practice close enough to still visit her mother, father, and three sisters.

Megan is excited to be a part of the TPMG family and values working alongside such a great team. She invites new patients to schedule an appointment.
