Sports Medicine Doctor in Williamsburg, VA

Lara Quinlan, MD, CAQSM earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at the College of William and Mary on a soccer scholarship in 2003.  In 2008, she completed her medical degree at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.  Dr. Quinlan completed both her internship and residency in Family Practice at Virginia Commonwealth University–Fairfax Family Practice in Fairfax, Virginia in 2011.

Before joining TPMG in 2012, she completed her fellowship in Sports Medicine at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and received her Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine (CAQSM).  Dr. Quinlan is also an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.

Dr. Quinlan is board certified in Family Medicine and her special skills include musculoskeletal injections, concussion management, casting/splinting/bracing and fracture management, dermatologic procedures, and basic sports nutrition.

Dr. Quinlan served as the Medical Director for Newport News Public Schools Athletic Department. As a specialist in Sports Medicine, she is thoroughly trained in caring for all athletes and patients with musculoskeletal-related issues, and acute injuries, and educating the public about primary care sports medicine. She provides medical coverage for athletic events in the community and works with athletes of all levels and experience from youth, high school, college, and professional athletes to weekend warriors.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, her children, and her two dogs, training for half marathons, playing soccer, and reading.


Are you a Student Athlete with an acute injury? 

  • Walk-in Hours are Monday – Thursday, 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM for injured student-athletes.  
  • Same-day or next-day appointments are available, depending on if the injury has taken place during normal business hours. 
  • Services are available at our Williamsburg and Newport News locations.
