Kevin Lavender, DO is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine with TPMG Denbigh Family Medicine. Dr. Lavender earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee and a Master of Science in Chemistry from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Furthering his education, Dr. Lavender completed a Post-Baccalaureate Program and earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia. Later, he completed his Family Medicine Residency with Riverside Family Medicine. Dr. Lavender joined TPMG in 2022.
The field of medicine involves Dr. Lavender’s two passions: science and serving others. He enjoys using his knowledge of medicine to help optimize their health, while reaching their own health goals. Dr. Lavender values his professional relationships with his patients; focusing on building trust and taking the time to learn more about them and their families.
Dr. Lavender treats patients from an osteopathic and holistic perspective, considering the mind, body, and spirit. Using high-quality and compassionate care, he can skillfully guide patients under his care. Dr. Lavender treats patients from newborn age to those of advanced age for a variety of chronic conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, coronary artery disease, hypothyroidism, and atrial fibrillation; as well as acute injuries and conditions such as muscle sprains/strains, sports injuries, common colds, and infections. Dr. Lavender has a special medical interest in minor sports injuries, health and nutrition, and Osteopathic Manipulation Techniques. He is available to guide patients when new conditions arise.
A member of multiple professional organizations, Dr. Lavender belongs to the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP), the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), the Virginia Academy of Family Physicians (VAFP), and the Virginia Osteopathic Medical Association (VOMA). Dr. Lavender also teaches medical students from various medical schools across Virginia in his clinic.
When he isn’t in the office, Dr. Lavender enjoys reading novels and nonfiction books, especially those regarding history. He loves outdoor activities, including hiking, golf, kayaking, and spending time with family at the beach. Born and raised in Southwest Virginia, Dr. Lavender and his wife have started a family in Hampton Roads and look forward to serving the community.
