He sees patients at TPMG – Behavioral Health in Newport News. Dr. Richmond earned his undergraduate degree at Xavier University of Louisiana and his medical degree at George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington D.C. He completed his residency training at the University of Pittsburgh Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, where he served as Chief Resident. Realizing early in his medical career that the psychiatric specialty was a natural fit, Dr. Richmond considers it a privilege to help people who are experiencing a mental illness as they work to regain the meaningful aspects of their lives. Within the specialty of psychiatry, Dr. Richmond is an experienced practitioner providing care for various mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and substance abuse disorders. In his clinical practice, Dr. Richmond finds the opportunity to interact with patients of varying backgrounds, while collaborating with other members of a patient’s care team, extremely rewarding professionally and personally. Dr. Richmond is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a member of the American Association of Community Psychiatrists and Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honor Society. He is also affiliated with Available Mental Health Services, LLC in Newport News, an outpatient mental health clinic, and The Pavilion at Williamsburg Place. A native of the U.S. Virgin Islands, Dr. Richmond has a keen interest in community psychiatry and a passion for providing and promoting valuable mental health services to areas in need. Dr. Richmond enjoys living in the Hampton Roads area for the proximity to the water, mild climate, and strong military presence and tradition that remind him of his days serving in the United States Air Force.
