Joshua Albert, DO

Accepting New Patients

Joshua Albert, DO, is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine with TPMG Hidenwood Family Medicine in Newport News. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia, and later his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Lynchburg, Virginia. A member of multiple professional organizations, Dr. Albert belongs to the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP), American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), Virginia Osteopathic Medical Association (VOMA), Virginia Academy of Family Physicians (VAFP), and the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM). He joined TPMG Hidenwood Family Medicine in 2023.

Exposed to the medical field at a young age, Dr. Albert is no stranger to the healthcare field. His mother worked as a registered nurse before making the transition to teaching when he was a child. Moreover, Dr. Albert has always enjoyed helping others. The chance to change lives for the better, combined with a lifelong familiarity with family practice, made choosing to pursue a career in medicine a simple decision.

Paramount to his philosophy of care, Dr. Albert strives to ensure patients receive the high-quality medical care they need and deserve, placing patient satisfaction at the forefront. While a trip to the doctor’s office can often be a stressful experience, Dr. Albert’s priority is to reassure his patients and assist them in achieving their healthcare goals. He partners with patients to provide them with the information and recommendations they need to make informed decisions for their health. Dr. Albert encourages open discussion about potential treatment options and care plans, taking into account any relevant factors that may affect patient care.

He treats patients with a wide variety of medical conditions and illnesses. As a family medicine physician, he sees patients for medical conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, heart failure, COPD, asthma, seasonal allergies, birth control counseling, common viruses and infections, and more. He also offers a variety of services, including joint injections, laceration repairs, and skin biopsies, among others. As a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Albert has additional training in the musculoskeletal system and osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT), an in-office procedure for patients with muscle/joint issues such as muscle spasms, joint pains, and more.

Originally from Virginia Beach, Dr. Albert treasures the opportunity to help serve the Hampton Roads community. He and his wife enjoy the area’s proximity to the beach as well as the many other outdoor activities Hampton Roads has to offer. When he isn’t working, Dr. Albert can be found in powerlifting and bodybuilding, spending time near the water at the beach, fishing, boating, and scuba diving, or practicing the culinary arts.

Dr. Albert warmly welcomes patients to make an appointment to see him at TPMG Hidenwood Family Medicine.
