Staples, MS-PAS, PA-C, earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology and English from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. She went on to earn her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. Jessica is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). Jessica joins TPMG Lynnhaven Internal Medicine in Virginia Beach. In high school, Jessica enrolled in anatomy and sports medicine courses. She had the opportunity to shadow a physician inside of his office as well as the operating room. Those experiences, along with her desire to build relationships, help people in the community, and gain lifelong learning opportunities, influenced her to pursue medicine. Before joining TPMG, Jessica obtained her Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and began volunteering as an EMT-Basic. She is certified in CPR/AED and First Aid (BLS/ACLS) by the American Heart Association. Jessica also worked as a receptionist/scribe in a medical practice where she learned every aspect of patient visits, from appointment scheduling to patient care. At TPMG Lynnhaven Internal Medicine, Jessica treats patients ages 18 and older for acute and chronic conditions. Jessica also provides individualized counseling and treatment plans. Her special medical interests include treating hypertension and hyperlipidemia, and performing diabetes management and preventative care. As a certified physician assistant, Jessica values strong patient-provider relationships. She works diligently to understand her patients’ needs to equip them with the tools and knowledge needed to take charge of their health. Jessica is fond of the diverse Hampton Roads population. She values meeting people from different backgrounds as well as seeking out new experiences. Jessica’s hobbies include playing beach volleyball, hiking, reading, and spending time with her family.
