Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner in Chesapeake, VA

Erin E. Briscoe, MSN, FNP-C

Erin E. Briscoe, MSN, FNP-C, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with TPMG Coastal Internal Medicine and Tidewater Bariatrics in Chesapeake, Virginia. Erin earned her License for Practical Nursing from Virginia Beach School of Practical Nursing and her Associate Degree in Nursing from the Medical Careers Institute. Furthering her education, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Sentara School of Health Science and later her Master of Science in Nursing: Family Nurse Practitioner from Chamberlain University. Erin joined TPMG Coastal Internal Medicine and Tidewater Bariatrics in 2022.

Starting her career at an early age, Erin served as a licensed practical nurse during her senior year of high school and continued expanding her career thereafter. Working as a registered nurse for 10 years, she served in various roles in multiple hospitals and units, including assisting in home births, mother-baby care, surgical units, orthopedics, palliative care, home health nursing, and hospice nursing and management. Erin’s interest in medicine and anatomy sparked after watching her brother receive stitches when she was just six years old.

As a provider, Erin prioritizes comfort for those seeking medical care, ensuring patients feel safe expressing their medical concerns and seeking treatment. She treats each of her patients individually, providing holistic, patient-centered care.  With a passion for healthy living and preventative care, Erin views nursing through Jean Watson’s theory of human caring, which stresses engaging in caring through authentic presence and intentionality. She builds long-lasting relationships with her patients and their families, helping them make the best medical decisions and educating patients so they understand their options.

Erin treats patients of all ages, for a variety of acute and chronic conditions including preventative care, weight management and counseling, diabetes, UTIs, upper respiratory infections, hypertension, wound/skin care, high cholesterol, anemia, and pap smears. With a special medical interest in nutrition, Erin is especially concerned with the way proper nutrition can act as a preventative measure for a variety of chronic conditions. In addition, she advocates for her patients of advanced age, understanding the importance of independence and remaining in the comfort of their own homes.

A member of multiple professional organizations, Erin belongs to the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. As a supporter of education, she also participated in Sentara’s System Preceptor Training Course, where she served as a preceptor for many registered nurses. Erin also taught home health and palliative care nurses as an educator and preceptor.

Erin has been recognized numerous times throughout her career for her work in the medical field. She was recognized for many “Wow Moments” at Sentara Leigh Hospital for flexibility, quality of work, and willingness to always help. She was a Daisy Award Nominee in 2016 and 2021 and earned the MSA Award of Excellence for excellent patient care in 2021 and 2015, the Virginia Beach Citizen Life Saving Award in 2014, and the Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital Making a Difference Recognition in 2013.

When she isn’t working, Erin enjoys spending time with her family and raising her three children. They like spending time outdoors, whether it is at the beach, the pool, or on an adventure. Erin is also an avid runner/hiker and volunteers as a cheerleading coach, for church groups, and for local organizations.
