Furthering her education, she earned her Master of Science from Walden University. Debbie is board certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) as an adult primary gerontology nurse practitioner. Gerontology is the study of physical aspects of aging, in addition to social, cultural, and psychological implications of aging. With nearly 20 years of experience in nursing and more than three years practicing medicine, Debbie is committed to the practice and continued learning of medical treatment. She has worked in numerous medical settings gaining practical experience in acute care, long-term care, internal medicine, and mental health services. Drawn to the health care field by a desire to help others, Debbie became a registered nurse in 2003. In her practice, she strives to provide safe and quality care to ensure her patients receive the best possible treatment. Debbie treats adults and adolescents aged 12 and up across their life span for a variety of mental health conditions including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, autism, mood disorders, depression, anxiety, and more. As a supporter of continued and consistent education, she also has a particular medical interest in reading and learning new medical research. Debbie aims to follow and maintain evidence-based practice, health promotion, and professional standards of care for her patients. She is a member of multiple professional organizations including the Greensboro Nurse Practitioners Organization of North Carolina, the ENP Network of Nurse Practitioners, and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She also serves as a board member for Nursing You Educational Resources and was recently nominated for America’s Top Nurses 2021. Born and raised in New York, Debbie has lived in the Hampton Road community for over 15 years and enjoys supporting community members and helping them achieve mental wellness.
