Tidewater Medical Center Charlene Smith, WHNP is a trained CenteringPregnancy® facilitator with years of labor and delivery experience. A passionate supporter of the CenteringPregnancy® evidence-based model of care, Charlene looks forward to building relationships with the group’s participants while providing education and promoting a community of social support. In addition to working with the TPMG Obstetrics and Gynecology CenteringPregnancy® program, Charlene is a Clinical Care Leader in the Birthplace at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News. She also serves on multiple shared governance committees within the hospital working alongside fellow clinical care professionals to implement evidence-based practice changes and provide exceptional care to their patients. Charlene received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Christopher Newport University and earned her Master of Science in Nursing – Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of Cincinnati. With over fifteen years of experience caring for women, Charlene is excited to be a part of the TPMG CenteringPregnancy® program. The evidence-based Centering programs have been shown to help reduce premature births and improve maternal and infant health. The programs also empower women to take an active role in their health care, resulting in higher rates of satisfaction throughout their pregnancy.
