Triepel, MD, FAAOS, CAQH is a dedicated orthopedic surgeon, fellowship trained in hand and upper extremity surgery, who earned both her Bachelor of Arts and Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Virginia (UVA). She completed her internship and residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston- Salem, North Carolina. Following her residency, she trained at Tufts University in Boston, where she was a fellow in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery. With over 15 years of specialized experience, Dr. Triepel strives to improve the quality of life of her patients with regards to their hand, wrist, forearm, and elbow issues. Dr. Triepel gains an incredible sense of satisfaction when presented with the opportunity to impact a patient’s life in a positive way. During her initial evaluation of her patients, she takes the time to educate about diagnostic issues and varying options of treatment. She is devoted to building trusted relationships with her patients and empowering them to make informed decisions about their plan of care. During the post-operative period, she enjoys shepherding her patients safely along their recovery. Only when her patient’s recovery is complete and goals attained is Dr. Triepel satisfied. Dr Triepel specializes in the treatment of injuries or conditions from the fingertip to the elbow. She enjoys caring for patients from adolescence through advanced age, whether it be for carpal tunnel, fractures, arthritis, sports injuries, trauma and more. Throughout her career, Dr. Triepel has enjoyed recognition for her work. She earned two Air Force Achievement Medals from her work in the 71st Fighter Squadron at Langley Air Force Base. Additionally, Dr. Triepel has been recognized as one of Coastal Virginia’s Top Docs recognition in 2019 and 2021. As a member of multiple professional organizations, Dr. Triepel challenges herself to keep abreast of the latest advancements to help her patients do their best. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, a member of the prestigious American Society for Surgery of the Hand and has served in multiple leadership roles, including past president of the Norfolk Academy of Medicine. When she isn’t treating patients, Dr. Triepel enjoys playing tennis, boxing, and gardening.
