Certified Nurse Midwife in Newport News, VA

Bethszaida “Betsy” England, MSN, CNM, RNC-OB, C-EFM is a certified nurse midwife (CNM). She earned her associate degree in nursing from ECPI University in Virginia Beach and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University in Chicago, Illinois. Furthering her education, Betsy earned her Master of Science in Nursing, Nurse-Midwifery from Frontier Nursing University in Versailles, Kentucky. She is board-certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) as a CNM and is an American Certified Nurse Midwife (ACNM) member. She is also a certified registered nurse in obstetrics and electronic fetal monitoring. Before working at TPMG, she served as a high-risk labor and delivery nurse for over a decade. Betsy joined TPMG Obstetrics & Gynecology in 2022 and began serving as a CNM in 2023.

Betsy has always had a love for the medical field. From a babysitting course as a teenager which taught her the fundamentals of CPR and first aid to working in high school as a student athletic trainer where she assisted with sports injuries, Betsy fostered her desire to provide care and support for those in need from early on. In 2007, during the birth of her first daughter and while her husband was deployed, she found her passion and decided to shift her focus to all things obstetrics. That experience eventually provided the spark that led to her return to college to pursue a nursing degree.

Prioritizing strong patient relationships, Betsy works to empower her patients through comprehensive education, ensuring that each patient is given a voice during the medical decision-making process. She wants her patients to feel seen, heard, and cared for as she works alongside them to create an individualized plan of care that meets both their needs and desires in a safe and fulfilling way.

Betsy sees patients from adolescence to post-menopause for a variety of services, including annual well-woman exams, routine gynecological services, contraceptive counseling, and management, family planning and preconception care, labor and delivery support, lactation support, and postpartum care, among others.

As a mother of five children, Betsy enjoys spending time at home with her family whenever possible. They often take road trips together and love musical theater. She is an involved member of her church and enjoys spending time outdoors. When she isn’t in the office, her family can be found outside grilling dinner, listening to her husband play guitar, and eating s’mores around the firepit.

Betsy warmly welcomes patients to make an appointment to see her at TPMG Obstetrics & Gynecology.
