Anne B. Nicholson, LCSW, ACSW, is a Behavioral Health Care Manager with TPMG Collaborative Care Model. Anne is a licensed clinical social worker and has practiced mental health treatment and consultant/case management for over 25 years. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Christopher Newport University. Furthering her education, she earned her Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. Anne is also a member of multiple professional organizations including the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW).

Drawn to the medical field by a desire to help others challenged with mental health issues, Anne acts as a Behavior Health Care Manager to coordinate mental health care for her patients. In her role, Anne provides supporting mental health services for patients and coordinates referrals and further treatment with the Behavioral Health and primary care teams to complete the circle of care. She strives to contribute to her patient’s lives through accurate assessment and evidence-based interventions and resources. She believes in holistic treatment, considering all of her patient’s individual biological, social, psychological, and spiritual needs.

Anne has worked in numerous healthcare environments, serving as a Behavioral Healthcare manager with Anthem and Tricare. Additionally, she served at Langley Air Force Base in the Mental Health Clinic, where she specialized in PTSD, anxiety, depressive disorders, emergency services and more. Anne has also worked in state and other hospitals settings, as well as community-based organizations. Anne has numerous certifications including certifications in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for depression, CBT for insomnia, CBT for pain management, Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Behavioral Health Consultant in Primary Care, and a Military Veterans and Families certification.

Anne treats adults 18 years old and above for a variety of mental health issues including insomnia, grief, family concerns, and serious mental illness. She has particular interest in the treatment of anxiety and depression disorders. Accomplished in her field, Anne has published journal articles in multiple journals including Social Work with Groups and completed practicums for the National Institute of Public Health in Mexico on mental health topics regarding social connectedness, shared grief work and impact of migrant workers’ absences on their families.  Valuing education, Anne also taught at Christopher Newport University and Thomas Nelson Community College.

When she isn’t in the office, Anne enjoys decorating, boating, swimming, reading, gardening, and music. She loves the Hampton Roads area for its access to the water and the variety of activities offered in the area.
